What should I cook for my friends on Mahjong night?

Hot Pot:- Beef, Garlic & Herb.
1T Garlic & Herb Salt.
1T Flour.
750g (1½lb) Blade Steak, cut into 40mm (1½”) chunks.
1T Oil.
1 Onion. (sliced)
2 Celery Stems.
1 Capsicum. (any colour)
1 420g (15oz) Can Thick Tomato Soup.
Bay Leaf.
Preheat Oven to 190C (380F)
Combine garlic and herb salt with flour and mix well and toss in the meat to coat.
Fry meat in batches to colour.
Transfer to a casserole as they are done.
Add the onion, celery, capsicum and bay leaf.
Pour over soup and an equal quantity of water, stir to combine.
Cover and cook for 1½-2 hours.
Remove bay leaf and garnish with parsley.
Serve with mashed potatoes.
(Could be cooked in a crock-pot on low for 8 hours.)
Well, since its Mahjong, I suggest going with an Asian type theme. My favorite asian kinds of foods are fried rice (which is simple to make), fried noodles, General Tso’s Chicken (which may be a little hard to make), and an asian styled soup (like wonton soup or some kind of noodle broth). The recipes can probably be found by googl-ing =)
If you want to do something fun and easy try setting up a grilled cheese bar. You can lay out a few different breads, cheeses, turkey, ham, avocado, tomatoes and some store bought pesto. You can either make your girlfriends their grilled cheese after they pick out what they want in it or they can do it on their own since everyone knows how to make a grilled cheese. Add in a yummy salad and maybe some soup if it’s not too hot out and you’ve got a fun dinner!
Chicken Shepherds Pie
Slice chicken breasts, sautee gently with chopped onion,sage and seasonings.
Whilst that is cooking,
Boil potatoes until cooked, mash and let cool
Steam vegetables
Prepare some stuffing (bought is fine)
Make gravy from pan juices.
Assemble your pie
Place cooked chicken in large oven/roasting dish
Next vegetables on top
Spread stuffing over
Then pour gravy all over
Finish off with your mashed potato
Grate a little cheese over.
Can be made ahead, reheat when required.
Serve with a leafy green salad, crusty rolls, and herbed butter.
For dessert
Cheesecake
Fruit crumble with cream
or,chocolate mousse.
All can be prepared in advance
The only hardship when hosting a dinner party, should be laying the table.
