Kosteniuk World Champion Video. The story of how I became the 12th Women World Chess Champion.

i think female chess players were traditionally less trained than male chess players but now they are building up their tradition i hope i will see some female chess champions to beat male chess champions!
but i also agree with Savielly Tartakower about the ruthlessness. personally i feel extremely aggressive when i play chess, even though i am only an amateur!
Now who’s best at giving birth?
Women are better gatherers and better at taking care of babies, as that’s how we evolved during the hunter-gatherer era. Unfortunately for women, the hunter specialisation was more relevant to modern skillsets.
Incorrect. I am not sexist. Stating the truth does not make me sexist as does the fact I believe unquestionably we men and women deserve equal rights. I do not look down to women just for being born as the inferrior gender.
Just look at the “best” of most anything and you will find an overwhelming amount of males. Some examples include most wealth, highest IQ, best chess player, “best” serial killer, and best memory.
Men built the world and run it currently. No need to fret about it.
That’s a very sexist comment. There are some fields where women are superior to men. The only thing that women can not argue with is that men are generally physically stronger, but that does not explain everything as concerns chess, since there are other factors such as the low number of women playing chess competitively and how late women started playing chess.
It has nothing to do with ruthlessness or aspiration for victory. Men are simply superior to women. It’s not a big deal though, and that’s why there are two different leagues (not only in chess, but all sports.)
That’s true! But in the last 20 years the level of women at chess has greatly improved, and he certainly could not give knight odds to the first 20 women in the world, or he would face certain defeat, no doubt about that.
bobby fischer said a lot worse hahahaha.
The famous chess player Savielly Tartakower in 1921 explained why, in his opinion, women played chess worse than men: “The only reason why women have not yet achieved virtuosity in the field of chess is probably that chess is not a proper art but also depicts a battle with the aspiration of victory; attainment of victory always calls for a certain ruthlessness, which is precisely a feature far too little present in the fair ***.”
Why is there a womans world chess title? Are they implying that women are mentally weaker to men?
I love you!!!

Best chess wishes to you!
I’m not really used to russian names, I just notice that men ends with ‘ov’ like Karpov, and that women ends with ‘ova’ like Stefanova (hmm, i think antoanneta is bulgarian? hehe). Correct me if i said anything wrong, ChessQueen. Thank you.
Garry’s father is Kim Weinstein, who later died when Garry was still young (7 years old I think). Garry then adopted his mother’s Kasparian name, which was then changed to Kasparov. So was it just a matter of preference, whether you would change the name or not? If you like your current surname, I would not argue with that.
Kasparov changed his name from Weinstein, which is a whole different story than simply trying to sound more Russian. As far as me, I like my last name, even if it is of Ukrainian origin.
Garry’s surname was changed from Kasparian to Kasparov (if I’m not mistaken) to make it sound more russian. Why is Kosteniuk not changed to Kostenova to make it also sound russian? Since AK is representing Russia and not Ukraine.
